Families, biological and found, are in Mere's works, which include short stories, novels, and screenplays. Since winning an award at age fourteen for reading all the books in the school library, it’s been a necessity in her life to have reading materials nearby. There are times when raising her four daughters interferes with her ability to write or read, but she feels they’re a worthy distraction.
